Dr Vernon is working in The Ashe Street Clinic from July 2018 until July 2019 as part of her specialist training scheme in general practice.
Dr Vernon graduated with honours from University College Cork in 2014. She completed her internship in University Hospital Kerry (UHK), Mercy University Hospital, Bantry General Hospital and Cork University Hospital (CUH). The following year she developed her interest in general practice while working in a Cork GP clinic. Dr Vernon joined the South West Specialist Training programme in General Practice in 2016. She was then based in UHK, gaining vast experience in paediatrics, geriatric medicine, palliative care, psychiatry, obstetrics and gynaecology and emergency medicine. She is enthusiastic about preventive medicine, end of life care and women’s health. She passed the first part of her GP membership exams last year and aims to do the next parts in 2019. Dr Vernon has been involved in various undergraduate and postgraduate research projects, including the BASELINE birth cohort study based in CUH. She is a representative for the National Network of GP Trainees.
Dr Vernon hails from Cork (but is also very proud of her Listowel connections!) and spent most of her childhood in America. Her other passion is animals and she currently has two spoiled rescue dogs and an escape-artist hamster. She loves living near the beach and spending her free time swimming in the sea.
